It's not Boring Anymore.

Dear Diary,
Last week I was down in bed with chicken pox and was denied a few simple ‘pleasures’ which I always took for granted. Never had I given a thought over them before, but  my sickness made me realize how often we take the small things in life as given, and realize their importance only in their absence. The smallest most mundane day to day activities, are done for the sake of doing it. The novelty aspect as well as the love for the task is lost.

When we eat we rarely notice the spice that goes into the food apart from salt whose absence is immediately felt. The spices which  add the flavor that make our mouth water. When we have a bath we are so much in a rush to be in time to catch that 6:45 bus or train, that we forget to enjoy the shower : the feel of water, like we did when we were kids. When we brush our teeth in the morning we are so sleepy that we are unable to enjoy the task at hand.

I have heard people complaining that Life is boring and monotonous. That’s because we choose to make it that way. We have forgotten to enjoy doing what we do best. The best results are always seen when you put your heart and soul and enjoy what you do, no matter what the task at hand is. So take every task as a challenge, and do it to the best of your ability. Don’t give you life an opportunity to becoming boring and mundane. After all it’s the simplest things in life that are the most extraordinary.

I’m leaving you with a quote from Paulo Coelho’s book 'The Alchemist.'

“Don’t let each day be the same as the next, as it is because people fail to recognize the good things that are spoke in their lives every day, that the sun rises.”

The Sunday Visitor.

  3. I think life is what you make of it :) So whether you want it to be something, that's all upto you & we can never forget the little things which make up an entire day.

  4. I had chicken pox when I was very young, it was not fun, I recall the itching! What you say is very true, we do not appreciate the small things in our lives that are good, until we no longer have them. Yet let the Internet go down, or the electricity go off for even one hour and we all begin to feel upset and deprived! We are blessed to have both of these, and even more importantly the things of nature, and even more, the gift of those present in our lives that can be here today and gone in an instant. Live today, love today, appreciate all that is in it!

    1. I can echo those sentiments and I'm glad it's over! We realise the value of things very late that's something we must change!
