D is for Donate
Dear
Diary,
For D
I recommend: Donate
Someone
once told me ‘For every extra piece of cloth that you hoard, someone has to
bear the freezing cold in a flimsy jacket.’
I have
heard people boasting about the fact that their closets are bursting to the
seams and they have clothes with their labels still intact waiting to be worn.
I wonder how many people could benefit from those clothes and how many prayers
and good wishes those boastful people would have earned.
Donate
your old things like clothes, books, children’s toys, shoes which are in a good
condition because even though they might not be of use to you, someone else may
need it more than you and will appreciate its value.
Don’t
wait for a special time like Christmas or Easter to donate your things because
God does not wait for a special time to bless you. Indulge in the joy of giving
today, make someone smile, make a child happy, that’s one of the best feelings
in life.
Leaving you with a nice thought I came across,
The Sunday Visitor
Agreed!

Smile, it makes (y)our day!
Thankyou!
DeleteThe thing is.. My weight's been increasing and I'm loathed to get rid of something I'll wear WHEN I lose weight again.. I've always donated and yet find myself with more to donate. Great reminder though and I'll be having another clear out soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Lynne! It happens to all of us, the more we donate, the more we find to donate. Lovely to hear that!
Deletewonderful thot darling!!
ReplyDeleteI know m gonna keep buying more clothes, so its like every 2-3 months i get an epiphany ad i clean out my wardrobe all the clothes that can be mended are put in a bag and all the clothes to be given are put in another! :D
once the mended bag is back.. both bags go to the nearest possible donation camp! :D
Loved your post! :D
Thankyou =D That's really sweet what you do. Continue the good work!!
DeleteI keep a donate bag for clothes and box for other on the floor of the hall closet. When they get full I drop them off.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely Donna! I'm glad to hear that!!
DeleteOne of my colleagues at work was saying she had heard that some young people now will buy clothes just for a holiday, or just to wear once, and then actually throw it away. That is, so they don't have to ever wash it! It's just a thing, apparently. Sickening.
ReplyDeleteI get the best wear out of my clothes that I can!
Very true Trisha, people do that and it's disheartening. I'm just like you :)
Deletei'm loving your life lessons for the challenge - especially challenge yourself and the twist on be drunk. great advice!
ReplyDeletehappy d day!
Thankyou for visiting and the encouraging comments!!
DeleteI donate clothes often. I will soon be digging out my warmer weather clothes and each year go through them. If I didn't wear it last year, it goes into a bag. I have been donating clothes to local shelters for sometime now.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! If only everyone does the same thing, nobody will have to bear the cold in a flimsy jacket.
DeleteTotally agree! We go through our stuff every six months. I hate clutter and the fact that someone else might get some use from things I don't use anymore is all the better.
ReplyDeleteThat's the spirit!
DeleteIt's true. I'm going to have to go through my stuff.
ReplyDeleteLike people here, we donate clothes, kids clothes, and kids gear after going through our stuff every 6 months or so. We also take in bags of cat and dog food into no kill shelters and pounds. Great thing to do! And, cleans your closets!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely thing that you do. Kudos to you and continue the good work!!
Delete"Don’t wait for a special time like Christmas or Easter to donate your things because God does not wait for a special time to bless you." - What an excellent reminder, Judy Girl! We live with so much excess in the midst of those who barely survive with what little they have. There is not a day we could not walk thru our homes and find something we could easily part with that might benefit another in need. You have a beautiful caring heart of charity, and I love that about you too!
